Chile regulates urban impact of telecommunications towers

08.jpg

Chilean Ley No 20.599 addresses the need to regulate visual impact of telecommunications towers. The approaches prescribed by law include bespoke designs, off-the-shelf structures, and urban furniture items.

Approval of each of these is subject to distinct methods:

  • design compliance against guidelines (for bespoke designs)
  • selection within a list of approved structures (for off-the-shelf structures)
  • evaluation by an expert panel (for urban furniture items)
